Ciara and Serena Williams kick off 2024 ESPYs with high-energy opening performance

Ciara took center stage at the 2024 ESPY Awards, held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Thursday, July 11, opening the ceremony with a vibrant musical act. 

The R&B sensation, 38, launched into her set with her debut hit single from 2004, "Goodies," marking a nostalgic start to the evening. Joined by the event's host, tennis icon Serena Williams, 42, Ciara seamlessly transitioned into a medley of her chart-topping tracks, including "1, 2 Step" and "Level Up."

The duo's electrifying performance garnered a standing ovation from the audience, including notable NFL players like Damar Hamlin, amidst cheers and applause. 

Their collaboration was teased on social media a day prior, with both artists sharing their excitement and hinting at surprises for the show's opening.

Ciara's appearance at the ESPYS coincides with her current tour alongside Missy Elliott and recent music releases, including a remix of Christian rapper Hulvey's "Altar." Reflecting on her collaboration with Elliott, Ciara expressed enthusiasm, highlighting the song's potential to inspire and spread positivity.

The star-studded event also features performances by rapper and basketball player Flau’Jae Johnson and presentations by celebrities such as GloRilla, Quinta Brunson, Nikki Glaser, Rob Lowe, and sports figures like Draymond Green, Lindsey Vonn, and Allyson Felix.
