Seven Palestinians were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a gathering in the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis, Palestinian sources said Thursday.

The airstrike also injured several others, and all the casualties were transported to the Nasser Governmental Hospital, medical sources told Xinhua.

Video clips circulated on Facebook showed the wounded, including children and women, being sent to the hospital in civilian vehicles.

Israel launched a large-scale offensive against Hamas in Gaza to retaliate against a Hamas rampage through the southern Israeli border on Oct. 7, 2023, during which about 1,200 people were killed and more than 200 others were taken hostage.

The Gaza-based health authorities said on Thursday that the Palestinian death toll from ongoing Israeli attacks on Gaza has risen to 38,345.
