Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast moves to Wondery

This exclusive agreement includes rights to the podcast's entire back catalog, distribution rights, and the development of two new podcasts and annual live streams.

Dax Shepard's acclaimed podcast, Armchair Expert, is moving to Amazon's podcast company Wondery in an $80 million deal. Additionally, Wondery will have a first-look option for any future podcasts created by Shepard.

Starting September 1st, new episodes of Armchair Expert will be available ad-free and one week early on Wondery+ for subscribers. The deal also grants Wondery exclusive rights to develop, manufacture, and sell Armchair Expert merchandise.

Shepard expressed his enthusiasm about the move, praising Wondery's quality, daring, and creativity. He compared the company to HBO in the podcast space and expressed excitement about bringing new content to a global audience.

Wondery CEO Jen Sargent emphasized the company's commitment to providing premium podcast content and highlighted the significance of this collaboration with one of the industry's most renowned creators.

This move marks a significant shift for Armchair Expert, previously housed at Spotify. The deal with Wondery promises a wealth of new content and opportunities for the podcast, including translated versions for international audiences and exclusive merchandise for dedicated fans.
