ISLAMABAD:

One of the lawyers for Khawar Maneka, the former spouse of Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi, on Thursday presented arguments on two separate applications, seeking both medical and religious opinions on Bushra’s allegedly contracting a second marriage before completing her iddat period.

The appellate court, however, could not hear complete arguments of Maneka’s lawyer against the main appeal of Imran and Bushra who have challenged their Feb 3 conviction in the iddat case.

When Islamabad District and Sessions Court Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka resumed hearing the case, a member of Maneka’s legal team argued on the two separate applications requesting a medical check-up for Bushra Bibi and seeking opinions from religious scholars regarding the iddat period.

Later Maneka’s lead counsel Zahid Asif presented arguments in support of the trial court’s February 3 order in the iddat case. He provided the court with a detailed history of the case, contending that he would have to provide extensive arguments in view of the importance of the case.

However, Asif Zahid’s arguments remained incomplete by the end of the session. Consequently, the court adjourned till 9:30 am today (Friday). Asif Zahid will continue his arguments today.
