ISLAMABAD:

Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Omar Ayub on Thursday moved a privilege motion in the lower house of parliament against the recent police raid at his Islamabad residence in an attempt to arrest him.

In the motion, Ayub demanded an explanation from the high-ups of the Punjab and Islamabad police for the raid.

The opposition leader maintained that the policemen in civvies had carried out the raid at his home without any legal justification.

He contended that the NA speaker was not informed about the raid prior to conducting it.

Ayub argued that not his, but the entire parliament’s privilege was violated.
