DG Khan villages submerged after rains

The Koh-e-Sulaiman region has been experiencing heavy rainfall, leading to flooding in local water channels (Rod Kohis).

Floodwaters from the Rod Kohi Wadore have inundated three villages, causing partial damage to dozens of houses. The commissioner has taken notice and dispatched relief teams.

According to the latest reports, heavy rains have been continuing in the city and the Koh-e-Sulaiman region for the past two days.

The torrential rains have caused flooding in the Rod Kohis Sakhi Sarwar and Wadore.

Floodwaters from Rod Kohi Wadore have entered the houses in Basti Shahani, Basti Gadpur, and Basti Jandani, resulting in partial damage to over a dozen houses.

A child was injured when a wall of one house collapsed.

Residents, caught off guard by the sudden influx of floodwaters, relocated to safer areas on their own.

Taking notice of the situation in Basti Shahani, Commissioner DG Khan Division, Dr Nasir Mahmood Bashir, has issued instructions for a survey to assess the water levels, damages, and other relevant information.

The commissioner emphasised that timely information and actions can help minimise losses.

He also directed that flood relief camps in safe locations should remain operational.

Following the commissioner's orders, Deputy Commissioner DG Khan Mehar Shahid Zaman instructed ADC R Nauman Farooq Tarar and AC Saddar Taimur Usman to reach the affected area and initiate relief efforts.

They reported that, in addition to providing relief to the affected residents, a medical camp has also been established.

AC Saddar Taimur Usman told Express that officers from the Health Department, Rescue 1122, Livestock, and other departments were present at the site. The medical camp is now functional.

At least 15 houses have been submerged due to the floodwaters, but no casualties have been reported. Monitoring of the Rod Kohis is ongoing.
