Fans of Love Island believe they understand why Hugo Godfrey wants to break up with Jess White after he admitted he's mentally checked out of their relationship.

The couple first encountered each other at Casa Amor, where electrician Hugo immediately captivated Jess. Before meeting that initial girl, Jess hadn't experienced much luck in the ITV2 villa.

The retail manager from Stockport frequently clashed with Brighton beauty Harriett Blackmore over footballer Ronnie Vint.

Eventually, Jess, aged 25, ended the love triangle but not before delivering some parting remarks to Harriett and Ronnie, asserting, "I'm the prize."

She subsequently formed a friendship couple with Joey Essex and during this time, engaged in arguments with Patsy and Matilda.

Last night, Hugo confided in the boys, saying, "I haven't felt myself the last day and a half. I think maybe the way things are going with me and Jess I feel like conversation is a bit dry.”

"When I meet someone and it clicks, it clicks, you shouldn't have to feel like you have to go and talk to someone.”

"It's a harsh thing to say but it's a boredom thing. I don't want to lead the girl on, I really done. I feel like I've sold her the dream, that's not what I wanted to do. I tried to pursue it. I've not faked anything bro, I wanted it to work."

Meanwhile, Jess informed Grace in the latest episode, "It's really good. Obviously it's still early days."

Fans applauded the editing and described the moment as "karma" for Jess.

"Hugo doesn’t like the fact that Jess is a mean girl!!!" one fan wrote on X.

Another fan joked: "Hugo wanting to end things with Jess cause it’s boring??? Guess you're not the prize anymore babe.”

A third expressed: "Hugo not fancying jess is poetic justice for how she has been treating everyone this season."
