Elliot Page, the Oscar-nominated actor known for his roles in "Juno," "Inception," and "The Umbrella Academy," returns to the big screen after a six-year hiatus in the emotionally charged drama "Close to You." Written and directed by Dominic Savage, the film follows Page's character Sam, a transgender man who returns to his family home after a four-year absence to celebrate his father's birthday.

The newly released trailer provides a glimpse into the complex family dynamics and personal struggles Sam faces during his homecoming. The reunion is fraught with tension as Sam confronts unresolved issues and grapples with his family's acceptance of his transition. In a poignant moment, Sam's mother, played by Wendy Crewson, admits, "I just still think of you as my little girl," highlighting the challenges of transitioning within a family context.

Page's performance as Sam has already garnered critical acclaim, with reviewers highlighting the raw emotion and vulnerability he brings to the role. This marks Page's first film role since publicly coming out as transgender in 2020, making "Close to You" a significant and personal project for the actor.

The film, which premiered at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival, is set to hit theaters on August 16th. It explores themes of identity, family, and acceptance, promising a poignant and thought-provoking cinematic experience.
