Arya Starr takes the lead as Spotify’s most streamed artist in Nigeria

Spotify's Global Impact List for 2024 has highlighted the top 30 artists with the highest global streaming numbers.

Nigerian singers Ayra Starr and Tems have been recognized as the most streamed Nigerian artists worldwide for the first half of 2024.

This information comes from Phiona Okumu, Spotify's Head of Music for Sub-Saharan Africa.

She disclosed the rankings during an announcement in Lagos.

The News Agency of Nigeria first reported that Spotify's Global Impact List for 2024 highlighted the top 30 artists with the highest global streaming numbers.

Ayra Starr and Rauw Alejandro's "Santa" claimed the top spot on the list, with Ayra Starr's "Comma" following in second place.

Tems' "Love Me Jeje" secured third place. Other notable tracks included Luciano and Omah Lay's "Another Vibe" in fourth, Savage and Burna Boy's "Metro Boomin Just Like Me" in fifth, and Tems and Tyla's "No.1" in sixth.

 “Spotify has unveiled its Global Impact List in Nigeria, recognizing the top 30 Nigerian tracks with the most global impact during the first half of 2024,” Okumu shared. 

“This list showcases Nigerian tracks that have garnered the most international listens from January 1 to June 30.”

Okumu highlighted the strong representation of female artists, particularly Ayra Starr and Tems, whose recent album releases have propelled them to top positions on the charts. She also pointed out the popularity of international collaborations, noting that eight out of the top ten tracks featured partnerships with global superstars.

These partnerships, from Pheelz with Usher to Burna Boy with 21 Savage and Metro Boomin, highlight the international appeal and increasing global influence of Nigerian music.
