Katy Perry has officially announced her sixth studio album, "143," set for release on September 20. The pop superstar shared the exciting news across her social media platforms, offering fans a glimpse of the upcoming record.

Described by Perry as a dance album, "143" represents a long-held ambition for the singer. "I've been talking about [doing] two albums the past eight years, and that’s a dance album and an acoustic album," Perry revealed during an Instagram Live session. "I haven’t yet made the acoustic album. Well, we never stop writing. But I finally made the dance album, the album I always wanted to make."

The new album promises to be a high-energy, high-BPM collection perfect for summer. Perry highlighted the album's joyous, loving, and light-filled nature, saying, "We just had a family dance party to one of the songs, and it’s just full of so much joy, so much love, so much light."

During her live sessions on Instagram and TikTok, Perry previewed three tracks from "143." The first, “I’m His He’s Mine,” features Doechii and includes a sample of Crystal Waters’ 1991 hit “Gypsy Woman (She’s Homeless).” She also shared snippets of the upbeat track “Nirvana” and “Gimme Gimme,” which features 21 Savage.

"'143' is honestly a dance party," Perry shared on TikTok. "All fandoms, invited. And it’s high energy, lots of love, mostly lots of love and BPM, summer, sexy. And it’s for y’all."

Perry had previously hinted at this new musical era last month, announcing that the album's first single, "Woman’s World," would be released on July 11, accompanied by a music video. While a tour has not yet been confirmed, Perry mentioned on TikTok that she has cleared her schedule to make touring possible in the near future.

Fans can look forward to an album full of vibrant, danceable tracks when "143" drops this September.
