A joint intelligence-based operation (IBO) on Wednesday led by security forces and police targeted a high-profile terrorist in Hassan Khel, Peshawar District, the military’s media wing said in a statement.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation, prompted by intelligence reports, culminated in a fierce firefight, resulting in the neutralisation of three terrorists, including the high-value target (HVT), terrorist commander Abdul Raheem.

Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the deceased terrorists.

Terrorist Commander Abdul Raheem was a key figure wanted by law enforcement agencies, with a government bounty of Rs6 million, for his involvement in numerous terrorist activities, including the tragic incidents resulting in the martyrdom of Captain Hussain Jehangir Shaheed and Havildar Shafiq Ullah Shaheed on 26 May 2024.

ISPR stated, "Today's operation has brought justice and closure in response to these heinous acts."

Among them were Sepoy Muhammad Idrees and Sepoy Badam Gul of the Pakistan Army, both aged 34 and hailing from Swabi and Kohat Districts respectively.

Additionally, Sub Inspector Tajmir Shah, aged 38, from Peshawar District, and Assistant Sub Inspector Muhammad Akram, aged 34, from Mansehra District, both from the CTD KPK, also lost their lives while courageously engaging in the firefight.

"Pakistan’s Security Forces stand shoulder to shoulder with other law enforcement agencies to ensure peace and stability across Pakistan," reaffirmed ISPR, "and such sacrifices of our brave men further strengthen our resolve."
