JoJo Siwa teams up with 'Dance Moms' creator for new docuseries on her life

JoJo Siwa is set to star in a new docuseries produced by Jeff Collins, the creator of "Dance Moms." The untitled series, produced by Collins' Resilient Content in collaboration with Sony Pictures Television – Nonfiction, will explore Siwa's personal and professional life as she transitions from a beloved child star to an adult pop icon. Resilient Content described the series as a "coming-of-age premium docuseries" that will provide an in-depth look into Siwa's creative process, her various business ventures, and her experience living independently for the first time, according to Variety.

The announcement coincides with the upcoming release of Siwa's new EP, "Guilty Pleasure," on July 12. The EP includes her hit single "Karma" and four other tracks, including the title song "Guilty Pleasure," which will be accompanied by an official music video.

Siwa, who first gained fame on "Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition" at age 8, has since amassed over 70 million followers across social media and was named one of Time's "100 Most Influential People" in 2020. Recently, she served as a judge on Season 18 of Fox’s "So You Think You Can Dance," replacing Nigel Lythgoe. Her reality TV experience also includes participating in Fox’s "Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test" and making history on ABC’s "Dancing with the Stars" as part of the show's first same-sex couple in Season 30.

Additionally, Siwa starred in the Facebook Watch docuseries "JoJo Goes," the Paramount+ live-action musical "The J Team," and served as creative director and executive producer of the Peacock reality competition series "Siwa’s Dance Pop Revolution." Siwa recently made a memorable appearance at L.A. Pride, as reported by Variety.
