Jennifer Lopez appeared unfazed during her recent Fourth of July retreat in the Hamptons, contrasting with Ben Affleck's presence in Los Angeles.

According to an exclusive source from PEOPLE, the 54-year-old Atlas star, who returned to New York on July 1 following a European trip, "has seemed happy and peaceful during her week in the Hamptons."

"She doesn't appear upset at all," the source emphasized.

While the couple typically spent the holiday together at Michael Rubin's annual Hamptons party last year, this year has seen them largely apart amidst marital strains.

Affleck, 51, opted to remain on the West Coast where his recent project, The Accountant 2, concluded filming in Los Angeles. Photographed heading to his office on July 3, Affleck stayed focused on his work commitments.

Meanwhile, Lopez filled her Hamptons schedule with activities such as plant shopping with manager Benny Medina, dining at Sant Ambroeus East Hampton, and enjoying a bike ride with Stevie Mackey, her longtime vocal coach and friend.

Despite their physical distance, both Lopez and Affleck have continued to wear their wedding rings. Lopez shares 16-year-old twins Emme and Max with ex-husband Marc Anthony, while Affleck is father to Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12, with ex-wife Jennifer Garner.

Earlier reports from PEOPLE indicated that the couple is "focused on their separate lives" with no joint summer plans in sight. Affleck has also moved his belongings out of their Beverly Hills mansion, opting to reside in Brentwood instead.

“Ben continues to live at the Brentwood rental. He’s been there for about two months now. He seems okay. He’s been at his office every day and seems focused on work. He’s also spending time with his kids," another insider shared in June.
