Monsoon rains expected across Pakistan from today
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has announced the onset of monsoon rains in several regions across the country, with the downpours starting today and continuing until July 16.
Monsoon winds from the Arabian Sea are set to bring rain to Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), Punjab, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). The department forecasts a significant amount of rainfall during this period, urging residents and local authorities to remain vigilant and prepared for potential weather-related disruptions.
From July 11 to 15, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan will also experience rainfall. In addition, certain areas in Balochistan are expected to receive showers from July 12 to 14, adding to the widespread impact of the monsoon season.
Sindh's regions of Sukkur, Larkana, and Jacobabad are likely to see thunderstorms and rain on July 12 and 13. These areas, known for their typically arid climate, will be significantly affected by the incoming wet weather.
Authorities have advised residents in all affected regions to stay updated with the latest weather reports and to take necessary precautions to ensure safety and minimise potential damage during the monsoon rains.
