Russian wheat stuck at port

The SHC expressed its displeasure on Tuesday over the government’s delay in filing its reply to a petition challenging the decision to hold 5,000 tons of wheat imported from Russia at the port.
During the hearing, the petitioner’s counsel submitted that the petitioner company was given permission to import wheat from Russia on March 28 2024.
He informed the court that 5,000 tons of imported wheat was lying at the port but the federal government was not allowing its release. He said that the grain was rotting at the port, which would potentially inflict losses to the tune of millions of rupees to the petitioner.
