Gas meter thief caught red-handed in Gulshan

A suspect thief was caught red-handed stealing a gas meter from a bungalow in Gulshan-e-Iqbal on Monday night. As per details, two suspects were trying to steal the gas meter from house No B-157, Block-13/D2 near Waseem Bagh when local residents got alerted. They caught hold of one suspect while his accomplice managed to flee.

According to the house owner, this is not an isolated incident. He claimed that the same two suspects have been responsible for multiple thefts over the past year, including gas meters and vehicle side mirrors. The suspect detained by locals confessed to selling stolen items, including gas meters, to a junk shop located in Madina Colony, Gulshan-e-Iqbal.

Residents of Gulshan-e-Iqbal have voiced growing concern over the proliferation of junk shops operating under questionable circumstances, particularly in the jurisdictions of Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Azizabad police stations.

They alleged that these shops, allegedly with tacit approval from local police, serve as hubs for illegal activities such as drug dealing and the sale of stolen goods like construction materials, vehicle parts, and public property equipment.
