Education ministry proposes matric curricula reform

RAWALPINDI:

The Ministry of Education is considering a proposal to merge the Arts, Science and Computer Science groups for grades IX and X into a single, unified group.

A significant meeting took place between officials from the Ministry of Education and the Textbook Board last week, where the proposal was formally presented and discussed.

The officials in the meeting agreed that the Matric 9th and 10th curricula needs to be modernised and upgraded according to the modern age by abolishing the outdated group system that has been in place for the past 77 years. Instead, a single, comprehensive group should be introduced, incorporating subjects from all three existing groups.

They proposed that to facilitate this change, new textbooks should be published, consolidating the syllabus from the three groups into a single. A follow-up meeting is scheduled to take place after Ashura Muharram to further discuss the proposal.
