Chinese man’s call centre robbed

RAWALPINDI:

Two unidentified masked men pretending to be FIA officers stole cash, 40 mobile phones, laptops and car keys from the call centre and office of a Chinese resident on Murree Road in the limits of Sadiqabad police station on Tuesday.

The police took two employees of the call centre into their custody and approached the FIA. The centre’s management reported to the police that two masked men entered the office posing as FIA officials, turned off the CCTV cameras, and escaped with Rs70,000 in cash, 40 mobile phones and laptops. They also took the car keys from the company’s owner. After receiving information about the incident, DSP New Town Chaudhary Asar Ali, SHO Sadiqabad Anwarul Haque, a police team and the forensic team reached the spot to begin their investigation.

SP Rawal Faisal Salim said that the suspects pretended to be FIA officials, took mobile phones and laptops under the pretence of checking them. The management of the affected company is hesitant to take police action. FIA has also been called to look into the matter.

The company management said that the Chinese resident had registered a case in the police station.

Meanwhile, the police sources that they have taken two men working in the call centre into custody for interrogation. The police are looking into the case.
