'Back to Black' star Marisa Abela now engaged to boyfriend Jamie Bogyo after four years

Marisa Abela, acclaimed for her portrayal of Amy Winehouse in the 2024 biopic Back to Black, is now engaged to Jamie Bogyo, her partner of four years. 

Abela, 27, who also stars in the series Industry, shared the joyous news following Bogyo's Instagram announcement on Sunday, July 7. 

The post featured Abela beaming with her engagement ring and holding a red rose, with Bogyo humorously captioning it, "She said she’ll think about it!"

The engagement was further celebrated with videos showing Abela and Bogyo embracing and being surprised by loved ones. While Abela has yet to address the news on her social media, she expressed her emotions in a comment on Bogyo's post, writing, "A weeping mess. 💞"

This milestone comes shortly after Abela's role in Back to Black, a film honoring the life of Amy Winehouse, whose tragic death in 2011 at age 27 left a lasting impact. 

Abela spoke to PEOPLE at the film's London premiere in April, reflecting on the experience of embodying Winehouse's persona and the profound impact of her music and poetry.

Reflecting on the role, Abela emphasized Winehouse's authenticity as an artist and songwriter, highlighting the personal growth she experienced through the portrayal.
