13-year-old mauled to death by stray dogs

HYDERABAD:

Stray dogs mauled to death a teenage boy at a poultry farm in village Jadu Laghari of Tando Allahyar district on Monday.

According to police, 13-year-old Zahid Gopang, son of Pappu Gopang, was passing near the farm when he was attacked by some stray dogs.

The police said the poultry farm workers feed the dead chicken to dogs, alluding that it could be a reason behind the ravening attack. The dogs might have thought that Gopang would steal there food and attacked him, local police officials said.

The village residents complained that over a dozen dogs can be seen around the poultry farm, adding that they bark at the people passing by and even attack them.

According to the locals, there is another poultry farm in their village near Abdullah Fakeer Graveyard which is home to an identical number of violent stray dogs. They claimed that the people visiting the graveyard always find themselves at risk of dog assaults.

The villagers said the local authorities are well aware of the menace but they always turn a blind eye.
