Girls shine in Pindi matric results

This year marks the return of awarding positions after five-year hiatus

The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Board (BISE), Rawalpindi, has announced the top achievers in the annual matriculation examinations, with female students claiming the top three positions.

The results will be officially announced and prizes distributed to these top performers on Tuesday (today).

In Science group for girls, Aqsa Noor from Punjab Secondary School Girls Talagang, Chakwal, secured the first position with 1,179 marks, Tayyaba Arif from Government Girls Fauji Foundation School, Talagang, District Chakwal, obtained second position with 1,178 marks, and Abeera Asif from Zamrud Memorial Girls Secondary School, Fateh Jang, Attock, secured third position with 1,176 marks.

In the General Science group for girls, Iqra Sulaiman got the first position with 1,105 marks, Laiba Urooj took second with 1,103 marks, and Naima Farooqi secured third with 1,087 marks.

In the Science group, Aqsa Noor stood first with 1,179 marks, followed by Tayyaba Arif in second place, and Abeera Asif in third.

Among the boys in General Group, Humayun Taj secured first position with 1,049 marks, Zohaib Imran took second with 1,017 marks, and Jawad Mehmood Malik secured third position with 1,007 marks.

In the Science Group for boys, Muhammad Ayan Iqbal and Hasan Raza both achieved first position with 1,170 marks, Muhammad Abdul Rehman took second with 1,169 marks, and Muhammad Wasal secured third position with 1,168 marks.

The position holders attributed their success to their hard work, parents’ support and teachers’ guidance, emphasising that achieving top positions requires more than just memorisation.

The Rawalpindi Education Board has restored the granting and announcements of first, second and third positions of students who appear in the matriculation and intermediate annual examinations after five years since the positions system was scrapped.

All the nine education boards of Punjab will also announce the positions of the students along with their examination results.

The Punjab Boards Committee of Chairmen has unanimously decided that the practice of awarding students positions based on their examination results will be restarted.
