Xiaomi's upcoming Fold rival set to make unexpected global debut
Xiaomi's Mix Fold 4 is reportedly set to launch globally, breaking from its predecessors' China-only releases. Renowned tipster Ice Universe has indicated that the new foldable smartphone will be available worldwide, with a potential release date of July 12, possibly alongside the Honor Magic V3 according to a news published by Android Central website.
The announcement marks a significant shift for Xiaomi, as its previous foldable models, including the Mix Fold 3, were confined to the Chinese market. The Mix Fold 3, despite its limited availability, competed robustly with foldable devices from Samsung, Google, and Motorola, boasting a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor and up to 1TB of storage.
The Mix Fold 4 is anticipated to be a high-performance device, with leaks suggesting it will feature 16GB of RAM, 1TB of storage, and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. Design details indicate an exceptionally thin profile, potentially making it the slimmest foldable phone on the market.
Currently, the Honor Magic V2 leads with a 9.9mm profile, but the upcoming Magic V3 might be even thinner, possibly below 9mm, according to Ice Universe. In contrast, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 measures 13.4mm when folded, with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 rumored to slim down to 12.1mm folded and 5.6mm unfolded.
The Mix Fold 4’s ultra-thin design is generating considerable interest. If Xiaomi can balance sleek aesthetics with durability and user experience, it could establish a new benchmark in the foldable phone market. The coming months will be crucial to see if Xiaomi's latest innovation becomes a global game-changer.
