Triple H addresses Damian Priest's in-ring mistake at WWE Money in the Bank
WWE Chief Content Officer Paul "Triple H" Levesque addressed the controversy surrounding Damian Priest's in-ring mistake at Money in the Bank, where Priest failed to kick out of a pin attempt and was mistakenly counted out by the referee. Despite the mistake, Levesque emphasized that human errors are inevitable in the ring and that Priest's overall performance was phenomenal.
"I think it's a shame that that's all people will talk about, and that's all people will hit Damian Priest with," Levesque said at the post-show press conference. "He had a phenomenal performance tonight. But a bunch of people will attack that, criticize that, comment on that."
Levesque wished he could have powered off Priest's phone to allow him to focus on the positive aspects of his match and WWE World Heavyweight Championship reign. "He has stepped up to a place where when you see him as a performer now, I feel like I'm watching a champion come out. I feel like I'm watching a top-tier guy," Levesque said.
The referee's decision to count Priest out still stands, and Priest remains the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Looking ahead, Priest will defend his title against GUNTHER at WWE SummerSlam.
