Birth registration period extended

The government of Balochistan is taking measures to improve the birth registration process within the province, ensuring that every child’s fundamental rights are recognized and upheld.

Abdul Rauf Baloch, the Secretary of Local Government (LG) Balochistan, on Saturday presided over a meeting to discuss and review various steps aimed at increasing birth registration rates.

This meeting was attended by the Director General of Local Government Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, Director General of BISP, Chief of Foreign Aid Najeeb Babari, Deputy Secretary of Local Government Syed Maqsood Anwar, Deputy Secretary of Education Mehmoodul Hasan, Director of NADRA, a health department officer, a child protection officer from UNICEF, and other key officials.

During the meeting, it was reiterated that the responsibility of registering births, marriages, divorces, and deaths falls under the constitutional mandate of the Local Government Department as per the Balochistan Local Government Act of 2010 and 2020.
