Postal workers threaten strike over ‘insulting attitude’

ISLAMABAD:

Postal workers threatened to stop work in protest against a man's offensive behaviour. According to the employees, abusive behaviour against a postman on duty is intolerable.

The workers explained during the protest that in the morning when an employee of Pakistan Post, was on his beat, a man named Naveedur Rahman approached him and pretended to be an officer of the secretariat.

He then proceeded to verbally abuse and assault the postman.

He snatched and tore up some official papers the postman was carrying. He pushed him and also tore his clothes.

The postal works have filed a formal application with the police department but reported that nothing had become of it.

Even as two days have passes since the application was made, no action has been taken by the administration.

The protestors said that if justice was not served, the union reserved the right to protest and that it would not hesitate to go to any extent.

“If we have to go on strike, we will go on strike against this hooliganism in the entire province,” said one of the workers.
