Ombudsman detects neglect during Polyclinic Hospital visit

ISLAMABAD:

Federal Ombudsman Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi has ordered the completion of Polyclinic Hospital 2, being constructed in G-11/2 in Islamabad, by 2026 as per schedule. He also ordered disciplinary action against doctors and staff who were found negligent in their duties.

The FO gave these instructions in the light of a report from his inspection team who visited the Polyclinic Hospital and the under-construction hospital.

He sent the inspection team, headed by Senior Advisor Ahmed Farooq and consisting of Registrar Muhammad Saqib Khan and consultant Khalid Siyal, to the hospital to review the numerous complaints.

A joint team was dispatched to the hospital, where they conducted a thorough assessment. During the visit, the team engaged with the patients, listened to their grievances and issued directives to the hospital management on the spot.

Upon arrival at the hospital, the FO's team was met with a stark reality.

At the reception, a single clerk was overwhelmed, with three patients waiting for up to two hours to take their slips. Meanwhile, another counter remained unattended as its designated clerk was found absent on a personal errand.
