Danny Trejo, 80, was involved in public altercation at Fourth of July parade
Danny Trejo engaged in a physical confrontation with parade attendees during a Fourth of July event.
The 80-year-old actor known for his role in "Machete" was seen involved in a physical altercation at a parade in the Sunland-Tujunga neighborhood of Los Angeles on Thursday, July 4. Videos shared by TMZ and other social media platforms captured the incident.
Footage depicts Trejo stepping out of his vintage convertible during the parade after a water balloon struck his car. Nearby individuals can be heard shouting "No water!" toward an unseen crowd before Trejo approaches a group of onlookers on the sidewalk.
During the altercation, the actor seemed to exchange punches with members of the crowd and was momentarily knocked down. Additionally, he was observed throwing a lawn chair nearby as bystanders rushed in to intervene and diffuse the situation.
Los Angeles-based ABC7 Eyewitness News reported that the incident continued for about 10 minutes until police arrived and the situation calmed down. Before the altercation, footage from ABC 7 showed Trejo in his car, apparently stuck, and taking selfies with spectators along the parade route.
According to one witness interviewed by the outlet, water balloons are a regular sight at the parade, but Trejo appeared upset "because usually people don't throw water balloons at fancy cars when they come by."
Trejo has not publicly commented on the incident on his social media platforms. However, on Instagram, he posted about the holiday, saying, "Have fun tonight but make sure to take care of your dogs! Happy #4thOfJuly!" Recently, he also shared the sad news of his chihuahua Dixie's passing on July 1st.
