Convict killed her husband, brother-in-law to marry accomplice

FAISALABAD:

District and Sessions Judge Javaidul Hassan Chishti handed down life imprisonment on two counts to a woman and a man involved in a double murder case in Millat Town.

According to the prosecution, Madiha Saqib of Chak 169RB and Ehtisham Shafiq of the same locality had shot dead her husband Muhammad Saqib and his brother Muhammad Kashif on February 15, 2020, because she wanted to marry her lover.

The woman had lodged a complaint with the police against unidentified murderers.

However, Saqib’s brother Atif Ghafoor had filed an application contending that the complainant of the case and Ehtisham were involved in the double murder.

The police arrested both the accused and submitted the challan in the court.

After evaluating the evidence and witness accounts, the district and sessions judge handed down life imprisonment on two counts to each of the accused.

The convicts were also directed to pay Rs500,000 in compensation each to the heirs of the deceased, or they would have to undergo additional imprisonment for six months each.
