RAWALPINDI:

Special Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Punjab, Tayyab Farid, visited Rawalpindi to assess the city's monsoon preparations.

The official reviewed WASA's monsoon readiness and inspected the Nullah Leh’s cleaning at Gawalmandi Bridge, urging the civic agencies to remain vigilant as per the weather forecast.

He instructed the WASA managing director to remain vigilant over the next two critical months and work should be done in coordination with the Meteorological Department. He added that machinery and personnel in low-lying areas should be deployed in anticipation of rainfall forecasts.

Farid said that the Punjab government's prompt allocation of funds enabled WASA to complete its annual de-silting. He shared that Rawalpindi Commissioner Engineer Aamir Khattak is overseeing the entire process, and all civic agencies are working with the district administration.

During a briefing, WASA Managing Director, Muhammad Salim Ashraf, informed the media that WASA has completed pre-monsoon preparations. The Punjab government released funds to clean 11 drains in the city, including the comprehensive cleaning of Nullah Leh from Katarian Bridge to Murree Road.
