Pindi’s development budget slashed

The Punjab government has slashed the development budget for the Rawalpindi district from 50 to 60% in the fiscal year 2024-25. All development schemes of the Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation (RMC), Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) and the Rawalpindi District Council will have budget reduced.

Only two development schemes have been earmarked for the Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) after rejecting 10 major schemes in FY25. Two new schemes will be completed with an estimated cost of Rs595 million. Ten new tube wells will be installed for Rs200m, while a new sewerage system will be laid in six union councils Dhok Hasu, Fuji Colony, Safdarabad, Khayaban-e-Sirsyed and Pirwadhai. The estimated cost of this project will be Rs395m.
