Team reviewed aviation security measures for passenger and baggage screening

KARACHI:

A UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) team on Friday declared that the aviation security at Karachi and Islamabad airports was on par with international standards.

The spokesperson for the CAA said the two-member GCAA team, led by Senior Director of Aviation Affairs Abdullah Al Kaabi, had completed its aviation security assessment of the Karachi airport.

Earlier, the team had completed its assessment of the Islamabad airport.

The CAA spokesperson said the team inspected various aviation security departments at both the airports.

The team reviewed the aviation security measures in place in terms of passenger and baggage screening as well as cargo and catering.

The visiting team also reviewed the airlines that operated direct flights to the UAE, ground handling as well as regulated cargo agents, and catering companies.

Access control, aircraft security checks and other related procedures were also examined.

Besides, the security documents of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and other domestic air carriers were also reviewed.
