Sindh govt announces plans to set up 300 model schools

Minister says the initiative aims to modernise education system

The Sindh government has announced plans to set up 300 model schools in the province in move towards modernising the traditional education system. The decision was taken in the inaugural meeting of the Advisory Board of the Model School Support Unit, presided over by Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah on Friday.

The meeting discussed strategies for improving quality and modernising education delivery. The education minister stressed the importance of adopting a modern management approach and outlined the initiative to set up model schools in every taluka. "Each area will host two schools-one for boys and one for girls," he added.

The selection process for these schools is scheduled to be completed by July 25, with the program likely to start in the upcoming academic year. Selected schools will receive upgraded facilities, including sports grounds, libraries, science labs, and IT labs.

The education minister spoke about the significance of public-private partnerships and community engagement in the operation of these model schools. The objective is to establish an exemplary education system that can be replicated across the country, ultimately transforming the entire traditional educational system in the province. Interviews for appointment of principals at the selected model schools will be conducted by July 20. Sindh School Education Secretary Zahid Ali Abbasi, STEDA Chairman Syed Rasool Bakhsh Shah, and other members of the Advisory Board attended the meeting.
