Charles White has voiced his criticism of Hailey Welch, known as the "Hawk Tuah" girl, highlighting the unpredictability of internet fame.

White compares her viral success to other internet phenomena, noting how a single moment or phrase can propel someone into the spotlight. He referenced Danielle Bregoli’s “cash me outside” moment on Dr Phil, which led to a multi-million dollar career, contrasting it with the less successful trajectory of the "you're breathtaking" meme individual.

White emphasises that while Welch’s catchphrase, "You gotta give ’em that ‘hawk tuah’ and spit on that thang," catapulted her to immediate fame, the sustainability of such a career remains uncertain. He comments on Welch's rapid integration into the entertainment world, including stage appearances and numerous podcast invitations, even quitting her job to pursue this new path. “She quit that job so fast,” White remarked. “The second her meme hit a million views, she just turned in her notice and said, ‘I’m out. I’m a meme now.’”

Despite her efforts to capitalise on her viral moment, White suggests that maintaining such fame is challenging. “This formula shits more often than it hits,” he stated, pointing out that staying relevant requires continuous effort and adaptation. Welch’s sudden fame has already sparked controversy, including accusations of being an industry plant and political bias. “It’s fascinating to see someone go all-in on a meme, but it’s not a guarantee of lasting success,” White added.
