Kim Kardashian discloses Gypsy Rose Blanchard reaching her out via social media for prison reform
Kim Kardashian is offering support to Gypsy Rose Blanchard.
In the July 4 episode of The Kardashians, Kim shared that Gypsy Rose had recently contacted her, hoping the SKIMS founder could assist her with prison reform efforts.
"I'm meeting her on Wednesday," Kim informed her mother Kris Jenner and sisters Khloé Kardashian and Kendall Jenner.
As her family reacted with surprise, Kim explained about Gypsy, "She has to get her parole officer [involved], it's a whole thing. So hopefully her parole officer approves."
In a confessional, Kim provided more details about their upcoming meeting, saying, "Gypsy Rose Blanchard was just released from prison for being involved in the murder of her mother."
"She reached out to me on social media," Kim continued. "She's expressed wanting to get into prison reform and I think that with what she's learned being in prison herself, I just think there's such an opportunity for her to use her platform in a really important way."
Gypsy was charged with her mother Dee Dee's murder in June 2015. Her then-boyfriend, Nick Godejohn, was also charged with the crime at the time.
Following their arrests, it was revealed that Dee Dee had subjected Gypsy to unnecessary medical treatments and made others believe her daughter had numerous illnesses. In court, it was argued that Gypsy was a victim of Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a form of child abuse where a guardian fabricates or induces illness to gain sympathy.
