BTS's Jin to light up 2024 Paris Olympics as torchbearer post-military service
Jin, a member of the globally acclaimed K-Pop group BTS, is gearing up for a prestigious role at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Announced by his label, the 31-year-old singer will participate as a torchbearer in the Olympic Torch Relay, a key prelude to the Games.
The relay, which started in April in Olympia, Greece, is making its way through France, with the official schedule for Jin's participation yet to be announced.
Having recently completed an 18-month mandatory military service, Jin is the first of BTS's seven members to return to public engagements.
His re-emergence was celebrated with a special event where 1,000 fans, chosen by raffle, had the opportunity to hug him—a moment designed to fulfill Jin's wish to reconnect with ARMY, BTS's dedicated fanbase, on the anniversary of the group's debut.
In addition to his Olympic involvement, Jin has been active on Weverse, sharing updates about his current projects with fans.
"I’m working on recording music and filming variety shows. I’m trying to focus on my main job while showing my face as much as possible. The results will be out in a few months, so please wait a little longer," he posted.
Last October, Jin, along with BTS members RM, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, performed at a massive free concert in Busan, South Korea, to support the city’s bid for the 2030 World Expo.
Shortly after this event, Big Hit Music announced that all members would commence their military service, considering it "the perfect time" for this commitment.
With the 2024 Paris Olympics scheduled from July 26 to August 11, fans are eager to see Jin carry the torch, spreading messages of 'harmony' and 'peace.'
BTS is expected to reunite fully in 2025 when all members have completed their military duties.
