KARACHI:

Citizens rescued two abducted minor girls, who were kidnapped by their maternal aunt, in Gulshan-e-Hadid on Tuesday.

Steel Town police station SHO, Inayatullah Marwat, told The Express Tribune that the girls, four-year-old Sanam and seven-year-old Shabana, were kidnapped by their aunt, Faiza.

"She had forcibly taken the girls in a rickshaw. After noticing that girls were crying, the rickshaw driver got suspicious and stopped the vehicle. When Faiza began to beat the girls, a passersby intervened and surrounded her", he said. The police also reached the spot after being informed by one
of the passersby and took Faiza into custody. The
girls were shifted to Al-Khidmat Hospital for initial medical aid.

The SHO disclosed that both rescued girls are orphans who reside with their grandmother in Old Basti. The grandmother told the police that Faiza, their maternal aunt, had allegedly abducted and mistreated the girls before taking them away from home.

A case has been filed against Faiza based on the grandmother's complaint, and police are conducting further investigations into the matter.
