Steven Soderbergh can't secure Taylor Swift concert tickets
Steven Soderbergh, acclaimed director of films like Magic Mike and Ocean's Eleven, is in awe of Taylor Swift's unparalleled achievements, despite facing difficulties securing tickets to her latest tour.
In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Soderbergh expressed his admiration for Swift's entrepreneurial prowess and her groundbreaking approach to the music industry.
"I can't get in," Soderbergh lamented about attending Swift's concerts.
"But I watched the film."Reflecting on Swift's influence beyond music, Soderbergh highlighted her impact as a business phenomenon.
"People laugh at how there's a college class being taught about her in business school," he noted.
"There should be. What she has done, what she's doing in the way she's doing it, nobody has ever done this before. The amount of control that she has taken. And she's doing this all herself. Nobody has ever done this. It's working. And it's a great model."
Swift's meticulous preparation for her performances, including training while singing on a treadmill for her Eras shows, impressed Soderbergh.
He praised her relentless dedication and expressed curiosity about the operational aspects of her success.
"She's obviously relentless, in terms of doing the whole show on a treadmill just to make sure she can do it," Soderbergh remarked.
"I would like to know more about how she is on a granular level, how is she doing all of this? How does the business work? What's her brain trust? How is the money? How does all the money move? How does it work? I'm fascinated by that because it's a success story."
Soderbergh even suggested an intriguing analysis: "If some sort of analysis could be run on every conversation that's happening everywhere in the world and tell us on average how many minutes go by when a conversation starts before Taylor Swift is mentioned, I would be curious to know because I have a feeling it's not very many minutes."
Swift's ongoing tour, which began in March 2023 and is set to conclude in December, has already shattered records, cementing her status as one of the most successful artists in the industry.
