Teachers stage protest for regularisation of services
Teachers from various districts across Sindh, including Karachi, staged a protest to demand the implementation of the Sindh government's promise make their appointments permanent.
The temporary teachers appointed by the federal government for special initiatives of the National Commission of Human Development and Basic Education Communication Schools were supposed to be absorbed in the Sindh province's education department, but the order has yet to see the light of the day.
Pushing for their demand, the disgruntled educators once again took to charge on the CM House only yo be met by police barriers.
A large number of male and female teachers participated in the protest, which was eventually suspended after a meeting with the education secretary.
Earlier, teachers from the National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) and Basic Education Communication Schools from various districts of Sindh, including Karachi, had gathered to protest outside the Karachi Press Club (KPC). Their attempt to proceed from the press club to the Chief Minister's house was foiled by the police, who had set up obstacles. A heavy contingent of police, including a personnel van, had also reached the spot.
