Five drown in a single day in Haripur

Police say four family members among the deceased, including three children

HARIPUR:

Four members of a family and a young man drowned in Tarbela Lake and Khanpur Dam respectively in a single day. In a separate incident, the body of a young man, a resident of Haripur, was found in a water tank in Islamabad.

According to the rescue officials, four members of the same family drowned while bathing on the shore of the Tarbela Lake. Local people recovered the bodies of the victims with their own help. The deceased were identified as a man and his 13-year-old daughter Fatimah, 10-year-old son Arsalan, and 8-year-old son Faizan Ali. The family lived in Haripur.

In another incident, 31-year-old Tariq Mehmood from Khalabat, also lost his life while bathing in Khanpur Dam.

After receiving information about the incident, a team of divers and a medical team from Rescue 1122 rushed to the scene. The divers launched a search operation and recovered the body.

The body was shifted to a hospital in Khanpur. Police said that Tariq came on a picnic with friends but drowned while bathing.

In another mysterious incident, a young man from Khanpur was found dead in an upscale locality of Islamabad. According to the police, 22-year-old Nazakat Mughal, a resident of Khanpur, had been missing for the past five days. Later, his body was discovered in a water tank at a residential plaza in Islamabad. The police registered a case and started investigating the matter.

The police have registered separate cases. The bodies were handed over to the families.
