Normani withdraws from 2024 BET Awards performance due to major injury

The singer cancelled her BET Awards gig after an unexpected accident during rehearsals that left her in crutches.

Normani, set to make a stellar debut at the 2024 BET Awards, faced an unfortunate setback as she announced a last-minute cancellation following a serious injury sustained in rehearsals. 

The singer took to Instagram Stories just moments before the live show in Los Angeles was set to begin, revealing her predicament with a photo showing her on crutches, her right knee bandaged, and sporting a protective boot on her foot.

In her Instagram update, Normani expressed deep frustration and disappointment over missing the opportunity to perform.

She explained, "While in rehearsals for BET I had a really bad accident and injured myself," emphasizing her determination to push through challenges but acknowledging medical advice that prevented her from taking the stage.

"This is definitely NOT how I envisioned this weekend," Normani lamented, apologizing to her fans and thanking BET for the opportunity. She reassured her supporters of her commitment to recovery and pledged to cheer on her peers from home.

Normani's anticipated BET Awards appearance was poised to mark a significant milestone following the recent release of her long-awaited debut album, Dopamine. 

Speaking earlier to Entertainment Weekly, the artist had expressed eagerness to return to live performances, highlighting her passion for stage presence and music videos.
