Trolls target Mahira Khan after social media post

Renowned actress Mahira Khan is the latest Pakistani celebrity to come under the radar of moral policing on social media after she posted vacation photos from Italy on Instagram.

This is not the first time a Pakistani star has faced scrutiny on social media platforms for her choice of attire.

Currently in Italy for the shooting of her Netflix series 'Jo Bachay Hain Sang Samait Lo,' Khan posted several pictures on her official Instagram account captained, "Constant total amazement".

The photos showcased the scenic beauty of Puglia and stunning sunset views, along with some images of the actress donning a butter-yellow Italian silk dress of sorts.

The style did not sit well with many fans, who took to the comments to express their disapproval.

Some fans criticized Khan for not adhering to traditional "Muslim values" while accused her of promoting "Western culture".

One Instagram user commented, "I have no objection to Mahira Khan wearing such clothes, but she should not claim in interviews that her grandmother and mother never allowed her to wear sleeveless outfits."

Pakistani actresses often face intense criticism on social media for wearing bold or revealing outfits.

In January 2024, Khan attended an event in Saudi Arabia wearing a sleeveless black dress with a deep neckline, which sparked intense backlash from fans who felt her "bold" fashion choice was inappropriate for the cultural context.
