Hundreds of protestors, including women, senior citizens, children, youth, representatives of political and social organisations, and businessmen, joined the demonstration.

The protestors said that the various areas of Lyari experience 16 to 18 hours of load-shedding daily, which is leading to severe mental and physical distress.
Residents reported that the sick and elderly are particularly affected, with many suffering at home. The nighttime power cuts have caused psychological distress among the population. They condemned the electricity company’s actions as a violation of human rights and demanded that up to 300 units of electricity be provided free of charge to Lyari consumers. Present on the occasion, social leaders from Lyari demanded that KE is responsible for the killing of citizens who died during the heatwave. They added that FIRs should be filed against the KE’s CEO.
