Services Hospital: Staff blamed for baby’s death

He said staff had broken the baby’s arm while giving it a bath.

LAHORE:
A man has written to the chief minister, the chief justice of the Lahore High Court and the chief secretary asking for an inquiry into his child’s death at Services Hospital. Rizwan Bashir wrote that his baby girl had died shortly after being delivered at the hospital because of “criminal negligence” on the part of hospital staff and sought departmental and police action against them. He said staff had broken the baby’s arm while giving it a bath. He said he was coerced into signing the death certificate and warned against protesting. His wife, he said, was kept drugged for a long time after the baby died. He said that the hospital had also issued a falsified admission and discharge slip concerning his wife’s stay there. Contacted by The Express Tribune, the Services Hospital administration said they would look into the matter and conduct an inquiry to find out what had happened.
