RAWALPINDI:

A prisoner was seriously injured in a scuffle that had erupted between inmates of Central Adiala Jail when one of them struck the other with a cutter.

The Saddar police station has registered a case against three inmates involved, namely, Hammad Siddique, Shahwaiz and Shams, on the complaint of the Assistant Superintendent of Adiala Jail, Ameer Shehzad. The FIR states that the three inmates were involved in the fight and had injured their fellow inmates.

According to the FIR, inmate Hammad Siddique had gone from Barrack No. 1 to Barrack No. 8, where he met with Shahwaiz and Shams. The three conspired together to attack their fellow inmate, Saim.

Shams, who was in Barrack No. 1, was the one to summon Saim from Room No. 2, asking him to come to the jail's veranda, where Hammad Siddique and Shahwaiz were waiting for him. On his arrival, Siddique and Shahwaiz attacked Saim with a handmade cutter, injuring his nose, forehead, and arm.

As soon as they were alerted, the jail police team reached the spot and shifted the injured inmate to the District Head Quarters Hospital after providing initial medical aid. The accused were taken into custody and handed to the Saddar police station.
