Rohit Sharma sets new record in T20 World Cup knockout appearances

Indian captain Rohit Sharma has set a new record in the T20 World Cup after participating in the 2024 final against South Africa at Kensington Oval in Barbados on Saturday.

He became the player with the most appearances in the men's T20 World Cup knockout stages, having played in eight knockout matches. This achievement surpasses the previous record held by five Sri Lankan cricketers.

In the final, Rohit scored nine runs off four balls as India, opting to bat first, posted a total of 176/7 in 20 overs.

Rohit was also a member of the 2007 Indian team, led by MS Dhoni, that won the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup.
