A Florida man was arrested after allegedly shooting down a Walmart delivery drone in his neighbourhood.

On June 26, 2024, the Lake County Sheriff's Office received a complaint in the Clermont area about a Walmart delivery drone being shot.

Responding deputies discovered a bullet hole in the payload the drone was carrying. Witnesses identified the shooter as Dennis Winn, 72, and directed deputies to his residence, the location of the incident.

Deputies conducted a Miranda interview with Winn at his residence, during which he admitted to shooting at the drone once with a 9mm pistol. A Miranda interview is when police inform a suspect of their rights before questioning.

The sheriff’s office confirmed the bullet hole in the drone's load. Winn was arrested and charged with shooting at an aircraft, criminal mischief causing damage over $1,000, and discharging a firearm in public or on residential property.
