Transfer Troubles: Teachers refuse to rejoin duty at primary schools
Teachers alleged that their transfer orders were issued on political grounds.
SIALKOT:
A large number of female teachers have refused to rejoin their duties at government primary schools in remote villages.
According to several education officials, the teachers alleged that their transfer orders were issued on political grounds and the recent cancellation of several appointments had caused uproar among the academic community. “We have the right to request a transfer after having put in years in the profession but the Education Department has cancelled our orders,” said a school teacher Rukhsana Shabbir. “The department is politicizing the issue and is not allowing us to transfer. Transfer orders that have been issued are for remote locations and many teachers are unable to relocate their because of family commitments,” she added. Following the cancellation of transfer orders made on alleged political grounds, the affected female teachers have now refused to rejoin service at several government primary schools located in far-off villages in Bajwat. The teachers accused the education department forcing them to rejoin their duties at their earlier posts.
