Jeremy Renner discusses friendship with Avengers co-stars

‘And there’s divorces and marriages and babies; a lot of stuff happened in these 12 years’, Renner states

Jeremy Renner has opened up about the authenticity of his friendship with his fellow Avengers actors, emphasizing that their bond goes beyond social media appearances. In an interview with Men's Health, Renner highlighted the strong connections formed among the cast members of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's (MCU) iconic Avengers films.

Renner, who survived a near-fatal snowplow accident in January 2023, shared that his Avengers co-stars provided immense support during his recovery. Their solidarity was evident when they celebrated his full recovery at Chris Evans' wedding in September 2023. "Oh, fuck yeah, it’s a real thing — it’s not just for Instagram. We fuckin’ hate that shit,” Renner explained. “No, we have a family chat and have for a long time. When you work with people — look, we all went through a culturally significant experience together. And there’s divorces and marriages and babies; a lot of stuff happened in these 12 years."

Reflecting on the strength of their bond, Renner expressed a deep sense of loyalty and connection with his co-stars. "I’d rather go to jail with Downey than go do something amazing by myself. I’d rather get in a car crash with Evans," he stated. He continued, "In the films, we look like we’re at a costume party, and there’s ridiculous props and we’re doing these ridiculous things, but it’s also beautiful because we’re all connected. There’s a brotherhood or sisterhood or whatever the heck you want to call it. I just call it love. I love every one of them."

The Avengers films have been monumental in the MCU, not only for their star-studded superhero lineup and box office success but also for the palpable chemistry among the actors. Renner's comments confirm that this camaraderie is genuine, with his co-stars standing by him through significant challenges and joyous occasions alike.
