RHONJ star Teresa Giudice claims that furniture scene led to her indictment
Teresa Giudice, star of Real Housewives of New Jersey, believes a scene on the show may have led to her indictment.
On her podcast, Turning The Tables with Teresa Giudice, she discussed a scene from season 1 where she paid $120K in cash for furniture. Giudice claimed that producers set up the scene, which caught the attention of the government.
Giudice, 52, reminisced about the early days of the show with former costars Jacqueline Laurita and Kim DePaola. The trio discussed the scene, which showed Giudice counting out $100 bills and using a calculator to show off her wealth. Giudice claimed that she and Jacqueline were initially hesitant to pay in cash, but producers convinced them it would be "cool."
Giudice alleged that the scene may have contributed to her eventual indictment in 2013, along with her ex-husband Joe Giudice, on federal fraud charges. The couple was accused of exaggerating their income and hiding their improved fortunes in their bankruptcy filing.
Giudice served 11 months in jail, while Joe served 41 months before being released. The couple filed for divorce in 2019 and finalized their separation in 2020.
