Interview With the Vampire season 3 confirmed by AMC ahead of season 2 finale
AMC has announced the renewal of Anne Rice's "Interview With the Vampire" for a third season ahead of the Season 2 finale, set to air this Sunday. The series, which has garnered a strong fan following, will continue to explore the dark and intricate world of vampires.
According to Deadline, the third season will draw inspiration from Rice's 1985 novel "The Vampire Lestat." The official logline reveals that Lestat (Sam Reid) will form a band and go on tour, in a storyline that includes characters like Gabrielle, Nicholas, Magnus, Marius, and Those Who Must Be Kept, alongside Louis (Jacob Anderson), Armand (Assad Zaman), journalist Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian), and others yet to be named. The logline teases, “No Auto-Tuning. No Trigger Warnings. All Feels Amplified.”
Season 2 shifted the setting from New Orleans to Paris, following Louis and the teen vampire Claudia (Delainey Hayles) as they plot to kill Lestat. Their journey leads them to Europe in search of Old World Vampires and the Theatre des Vampires in Paris, where Louis’ relationship with Armand develops, leading to tragic outcomes that impact both the past and future.
The series has been critically acclaimed, maintaining a 98 percent fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes for both seasons. In 2022, it was named the best-reviewed horror series of the year by Rotten Tomatoes and appeared on several "Best of 2022" TV show lists. Dan McDermott, president of entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC Networks, praised the creative team, stating, “What Rolin [Jones] has done with these stories and characters, working so closely with Mark [Taylor], as the steward of this universe, has exceeded the loftiest version of our expectations”.
"Interview With the Vampire," based on Rice's 1976 novel, serves as the first series in the Immortal Universe, a shared universe inspired by Rice's works. The show follows Louis de Pointe du Lac recounting his past life and relationship with the vampire Lestat de Lioncourt to journalist Daniel Molloy.
